In February, Goodgame Studios proudly introduced their brand new team called 4th Floor Studio. The newly opened arm of the development studio was supposed to mark the corporation’s first step into the core gaming market. More than 70 employees joined 4th Floor Studio with a wide array of core gaming backgrounds. The staff included veterans from Blizzard, Electronic Arts, Epic, and Riot. Under the leadership of former Warner Bros exec William Corey Barnard, who has worked on titles such as The Lord of the Rings Online and Need for Speed: ProStreet, Goodgame Studios promised an exciting action-RPG. Apparently, not even two months after the initial announcement, it looks as though the title developed with the Unreal Engine 4 will not face the light of day after all.
This could be some artwork for the scrapped game.
According to the industry magazine Develop, the development for the action-RPG has been ceased with immediate effect. Luckily, it seems as though none of the employees are becoming redundant. They are being transferred to other teams within Goodgames Studios. Apparently, this also does not mean the end for core gaming at the Hamburg development studio. Two titles are currently being planned for PC. The developer wants to hire even more staff to work on these games. Currently, there’s no precise information on the upcoming AAA games. We will keep you posted!
