Jagex has announced the upcoming open beta launch of Transformers Universe, the multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game that allows users to take control of an expanding team of Transformers in a battle across multiple maps and game modes. Starting this July 4 weekend, all gamers can register and jump into the game without an invite.
“We’re delighted to be opening our game to the public, a game we believe is worthy to be Jagex’s second massively multiplayer online game,” said Mark Gerhard, Jagex CEO & CTO. “Our Beta community have been having enormous fun playing, as have we, often being schooled by them! Everyone has been absolutely fantastic throughout the Closed Beta and provided us with great feedback which we continue to implement into the game service through our weekly updates.”
The team-based game sees players earning achievements and medals for their performance during combat, with each battle, whether success or failure, counting for both individual honors, as well as the overall goal of a player’s chosen faction (Autobot vs Decepticon).
To celebrate the open beta launch of Transformers Universe, players will earn double XP this Independence Day weekend, and are invited to watch a 24-hour live stream event on Twitch to win part of a prize pool worth $75,000.
Transformers Universe is available to play on PC and Mac via direct download, or free play within a browser.
