Late last year, the folks over at Ubisoft introduced a brand new feature to their strategy game Anno Online called Monuments, one of the more extensive features ever added to the RTS. Monuments are massive buildings with unique effects, bonuses, and abilities (such as raising the number of inhabitants in a certain perimeter) that require a longer and more complex construction than any other building in the strategic browser game. They are unlocked by a certain amount of Knowledge Points and constructed in various stages. Knowledge Points can be received by either solving specific quests, supporting friends in building their Monuments, or as an output in the Library. The first two monumental buildings were the Library and Botanical Garden. Now it’s time to introduce three further monuments.
The Amphitheater can be unlocked by Knowledge Points and the construction of the Library; the Castle and the Cathedral also require the Amphitheater to be constructed in order to be unlocked. With the introduction of modification items, both the effectiveness of the influence area and the number of inhabitants in the perimeter of the monumental buildings can be increased. They can be built by players in the item producer when all blueprints have been collected and all construction parts assembled.
