Sydney, Australia – November 27th 2013 – Bubble Gum Interactive, the award-winning developer of family-friendly social and mobile games, today announced the upcoming launch of its Space Heroes Universe Trading Card Game, as part of a collaboration with leading Australian distributor Banter Toys & Collectibles.
The first licensed merchandise based on the acclaimed kids online game, the Battle Cards will launch in 3,000 retailers across Australia and New Zealand for back-to-school January 2014; with Banter strategically targeting stores located close by to online players.
With the first series of cards aimed initially at the passionate, existing Space Heroes player base, a key feature in every pack will be a special code card gamers can use to redeem 30 limited edition virtual items to collect and play in-game.
And with over 100 other cards to find, including rare and ultra rare cards, Space Heroes fans can also play as their favourite characters from the game and cartoon, and assemble a deep collection of characters and cool elements featured throughout the virtual world.
"Space Heroes resonates with our fans thanks to its captivating story of intrepid heroes exploring the galaxy in search of the dastardly Lord Shadowbot" said Phil Mason, CEO, Bubble Gum Interactive "These totally epic battle cards give our fans the chance to discover more of the story as they face off with their friends with a fun and frantic TCG."
Space Heroes Universe stands out from other virtual worlds, with a true focus on storytelling. With a passionate team of writers, the game world has already grown into a transmedia franchise encompassing virtual world, mobile games and animated cartoons.
"We've watched the expansion of Space Heroes Universe both here in Australia and overseas and have been impressed by their user growth" said Kris Thompson, National Sales Director at Banter Toys & Collectibles. "We look forward to taking the first Series trading cards to retail and expanding from that into additional SKU's as the product finds its audience".
Production and Multiplatform Integration is being handled on behalf of Banter by Sydney based Multiplatform studio, Kryptyx Entertainment, under Executive Producer Ben Gage. "A deep interactive world with a strong heroes vs villains character base is compelling for the tween set; more so if it can be extended into scaleable product with digital integration" said Gage. "Space Heroes lends itself to awesome merchandise, and we look forward to passionate players discovering the trading cards and code redemption features inside the virtual world, and empowering them to then go get it for themselves at a store close by".
