Hamburg, September 10, 2013. Today, InnoGames updated all game worlds of its popular online game Forge of Empires to the most recent version 1.09. This update includes, among several improvements and minor bugfixes, a new Great Building from the Progressive Era: Alcatraz! The legendary prison situated in the San Francisco bay was one of the two great buildings chosen by the community to be put in the game. The other to be chosen was the Château Frontenac, which has already been introduced as a legendary building of the Progessive Era.
All Great Buildings in the game provide their owner's cities with special boosts or bonuses, and the prison-turned-tourist attraction is no exception: Players managing to collect all nine blueprints and build Alcatraz will daily receive a specific amount of troops randomly from one of their existing military buildings in the city.
Forge of Empires is a browser-based strategy game, where players, tasked with leading their own city to prosperity can research new technologies, build impressive historical buildings and enlarge their sphere of influence through military campaigns and skillful dealing. The game has recently been awarded the title of "Best Browser Game 2013" at the German Computer Game Award (Deutscher Computerspielpreis).
With about 100 million registered players, InnoGames is one of the world's leading developers and providers of online games. The Hamburg-based company has scored major successes with games such as Tribal Wars, The West and Grepolis.
