Lexington, MA - May 10, 2012 - Indie game studio 10x10 Room is proud to announce the open beta of Conclave, a browser-based game that captures the spirit of tabletop roleplaying with friends without taking over your life.
Parties of players work together in Conclave to battle back the encroaching forces of darkness. Bringing the unique martial, magical, and tactical capabilities of their characters to bear, parties engage in quests to protect the last surviving stronghold of civilization.
Unlike tabletop RPGs or MMORPGs, Conclave adapts to your speed of play: players can take turns while together online or at different times, and the game moves forward at the collective pace of the party members. Because Conclave does not use Flash, it's also playable from iPhones and iPads, as well as desktops and Android phones. And you can take a turn in a matter of a minute. These features make Conclave a multiplayer experience that fits your life, instead of forcing you to fit your life around it.
The first three quests in Conclave can be played for free. For a limited time during the beta, 10x10 Room is offering special prices on additional quests: a pack of three new quests costs $.99, or a bundle containing all of Conclave's current quests can be had for $2.99. Once one player in a party owns a quest, everybody can play; a single license covers the whole party.
"At 10x10 Room, we all miss the days when we could sit around a kitchen table with our friends, roleplaying into the wee hours of the night," says Nick Branstator, co-founder of 10x10 Room. "These days, our friends are spread to the far corners of the globe, and work, school, and family make it very difficult to carve out time for a traditional tabletop RPG. With Conclave, we've brought that wonderful experience to the Web so that you can play with anybody, anywhere, anytime."

"An asynchronous, browser-based hardcore RPG with my friends... that fits my lifestyle perfectly!"
"Very 'play while at work' friendly, which is dangerous."
"Great writing, art, and style to it. And awesome that it's all in HTML."
"I find myself thinking 'What will happen next' and 'When will it be my turn' [in a way] that's very reminiscent of old-school in-person D&D.... Awesome!"
"Yes I did play past my self-imposed bed-time and am paying for it today - but it was totally worth it!"
"Amazing. One of its greatest features is that you don't have to continuously play...great opportunity for strategy too!"
"The writing in this game is excellent.... Whoever's hand is at work here is unusually literate and talented for this day and age. I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that he or she earns their living as an author of novels or short stories."
"The possibilities for this game are endless, I'm really enjoying it and can't wait to see what they do with it."
