Last Sunday is just the day for Google Chrome. According to StatCounter's global measurements, Chrome topped the charts in India, Russia and Brazil, making for a worldwide push into the number one spot ahead of Internet Explorer. Though, it's just for a very brief period, one day in fact.
Aodhan Cullen, CEO, StatCounter, explained: "While it is only one day, this is a milestone. Whether Chrome can take the lead in the browser wars in the long term remains to be seen, however the trend towards Chrome usage at weekends is undeniable. At weekends, when people are free to choose what browser to use, many of them are selecting Chrome in preference to IE."
According to StatCounter's figures, Chrome has edged in front of Firefox in terms of global market share, but is still some way off Internet Explorer. Net Applications, on the other hand, still has Chrome just behind Firefox.
Will Chrome be on its way up once again in the future? Let's wait and see.
