Land O'Lakes, FL - August 31, 2011 - Artix
Entertainment, the small, independent game development studio that delivers
download-free browser-based RPGs to 130 million users, will launch Pony vs Pony, the
company's newest game, at DragonCon this Friday, September 2nd,
2011.
Artix Entertainment is responsible for developing and updating six
major games: AdventureQuest
World, DragonFable, MechQuest, AdventureQuest,
EpicDuel, and HeroSmash. Aside
from those games, the studio has also released two iPhone and Android apps as
well as a slew of smaller browser games. This Friday will be the release of a
game unlike any other of AE's previous games - Pony vs Pony.
So far, few
details have been released about the game, causing a stir of interest and
speculation among the players. In early August, a few players discovered the URL
of the game from an unrelated screenshot taken by one of the game's developers.
The screenshot showed an Adobe Flash window where the developer was de-bugging
DragonFable. In the background were several other open windows. Within thirty
seconds players spotted the Pony vs Pony window and found the homepage. The
homepage was set up with a flying pony, the release date (September 2nd), a
catchy Pony vs Pony song, and a random pony name generator.
Three minutes
later, Twitter exploded with hundreds of tweets per minute of players tweeting
their randomly-generated Pony names. Players got names such as Commander Soft
BerryNose, Duke Charming Cupcake, Mister Tangy PookyBoo, and other
fluffy-sounding names. There was a lot of excitement going on as players tried
to guess what kind of game Pony vs Pony would be.
Artix Entertainment
hasn't released any official details on the game yet, but the game's developers
have released a few sneak peeks of pony art.

This Friday, Artix Entertainment will be hosting a panel at DragonCon in
Atlanta, Georgia from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM at the Sheraton Hotel in the Savannah
Room. Other than launching the Pony vs Pony game, the AE staff will also be
doing a question and answer session with the players, hosting prize giveaways,
and autographing anything the players bring. At least five Artix staff
(including Artix) will be in their character costumes at the panel and all
players are encouraged to dress up as their favorite character too!
